Assemblies & Parent Participation at St Edmund’s
At St Edmund’s, we deeply value the partnership between home and school, and we warmly welcome parents and carers to join us in celebrating our faith, values, and children’s achievements throughout the year.
Celebration of the Word
Every Monday | 9:00–9:15 a.m.
(except the first Monday after half terms and holidays)
Led by our Peace & Justice Group, this weekly gathering reflects on Sunday’s Gospel, introduces our Mission for the Week, and helps set a prayerful tone for our school community.
SPIRIT Assembly
Last Friday of each month
In this whole-school assembly, we celebrate pupils who have lived out our SPIRIT values — Service, Perseverance, Integrity, Respect, Inclusivity and Trust — through:
Star Awards
Doodle & Dojo Awards
Attendance Celebrations
Additional Events
We regularly host seasonal liturgies, feast-day celebrations, class assemblies and other special events. Parents will always receive information in advance, but as a general rhythm, you are invited to join us:
-
Every Monday morning (Celebration of the Word)
-
The last Friday of each month (SPIRIT Assembly)
Your presence strengthens our community, supports our children, and reflects the loving, inclusive ethos that defines St Edmund’s.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Home Prayer Books at St Edmund’s
Growing Prayerful Hearts at Home
At St Edmund’s, prayer is a joyful part of our daily rhythm, and our Home Prayer Books help bring this experience into family life. Each class has a special prayer book linked to their class saint, and a different child takes it home every Friday. Families are invited to spend a quiet moment together—writing a simple prayer, drawing a picture, or reflecting on themes such as gratitude, kindness, creation or courage. These beautifully personal pages show children growing in faith, confidence and spiritual awareness, while helping them see prayer as a natural part of everyday life.
Strengthening the Home–School–Parish Journey
The Home Prayer Books complement our rich prayer and liturgical life at school: daily classroom prayer, weekly Celebration of the Word, pupil-led worship, seasonal liturgies, parish Masses, and reflective prayer spaces across every floor. Together, these practices nurture a strong partnership between home, school and parish, helping our pupils deepen their relationship with God and live our mission with joy: “…through Christ we learn.”
St Edmund’s RE & Catholic Life Newsletter
Celebrating Faith, Learning and Community
Our RE & Catholic Life Newsletter is a beautiful snapshot of the rich spiritual life at St Edmund’s. Each edition highlights the Gospel themes we are exploring, the prayer and worship taking place across the school, and the many ways our children put their faith into action through Catholic Social Teaching, leadership roles, and charitable work. Parents can also see photographs of class prayer tables, RE learning, liturgical celebrations, and pupil-led worship such as our weekly Celebration of the Word.
The newsletter is designed to help families stay connected with the rhythm of our Catholic life. It includes prayer ideas, Scripture reflections, key dates, parish links, and updates from groups such as our Peace & Justice Society, Caritas Ambassadors, School Council, and Parent Prayer Group. Through these regular updates, we continue strengthening the partnership between home, school, and parish so that our mission — “…through Christ we learn…” — is lived with joy both in school and at home.
Staying Connected Through ClassDojo
Sharing Our Faith, Learning and Community Moments
At St Edmund’s, we love keeping our families connected to the life of the school. Alongside our RE Newsletter, we regularly share updates on ClassDojo, where parents can see photos and posts celebrating the wonderful things happening each week. From classroom prayer, RE lessons and Gospel reflections to assemblies, feast-day celebrations, charity events, fundraising initiatives and parish links, ClassDojo allows families to witness our Catholic life unfolding in real time.
We also upload newsletters, reminders and key dates linked to the liturgical year, including Advent, Lent, Holy Week, saints’ feast days and whole-school worship. This helps parents feel informed, involved and able to share in their child’s learning and faith journey. Through ClassDojo, we continue strengthening our partnership with families—celebrating, communicating and growing together in our mission: “…through Christ we learn.”
