Religious Education Assessment at St Edmund’s
At St Edmund’s, Religious Education is a core subject and sits at the heart of our Catholic life. Our RE Assessment Policy explains how we make sure every child grows in knowledge, understanding and faith.
-
We follow the diocesan programme To Know You More Clearly, which helps children to learn scripture, reflect on its meaning, and apply it to their own lives.
-
Assessment focuses on three ways of knowing: Understand, Discern and Respond. This means children show not just what they know, but how they think, pray and act as a result.
-
Teachers assess learning each half-term through a balance of written work, creative tasks, prayer and pupil voice.
-
Evidence is collected in class RE floor books, prayer journals and portfolios, and recorded on our Insight system to track progress from year to year.
-
Work is moderated regularly across classes and with diocesan partners to ensure accuracy and consistency.
-
RE attainment and personal growth are shared with parents in termly updates and annual reports.
This approach ensures that Religious Education is rigorous, inclusive and joyful – helping our pupils to deepen their knowledge of Christ, grow in their faith, and respect other world religions.
