Pupil Chaplaincy

At St Edmund’s, we have a team of dedicated Y5 Pupil Chaplains or Peace and Justice society who promote the Catholic Ethos of our school.  Pupil Chaplaincy has a high profile in our school.

Our Pupil Chaplains are a very dedicated team who have a vital role in enhancing the Religious and Spiritual Life of our school.  Their roles include delivering class Prayer and Worship, leading prayers and reflections in assemblies and Liturgical events, supporting charities and fundraising events, and encouraging the children to be active global citizens.

Pupil Chaplains are good role models for the younger pupils in our school and they give out award stickers and certificates for acts of kindness and service to children within the school.

We are very proud of our Pupil Chaplains.

Pupil Chaplains will be entrusted with the responsibility of:

  •          Giving joyful witness of Christ in school – continuing the work of Jesus’ disciples and encouraging the children to put God first and live out their faith in their daily living.
  •          Peer pastoral care – building on the excellent practice in school.
  •          Assisting with the delivery and development of the prayer life of the school; supporting assemblies, worship, class prayer times and prayer groups.
  •          Leading Bible classes to younger children.
  •          Developing and leading social justice activities in school.
  •          Being an active global citizen.  Developing outreach work and supporting local, national and international charities – CAFOD: working for change – being the change makers.
  •          Developing stronger links with the school’s four Parishes.
  •          Being present on parents and opening evenings to help with the welcome of all the community.
